We met online. NO, not a dating site, it was actually in a Yahoo chat room. I guess I'm one of the very few lucky ones to meet a serious soul searcher on a public site full of trolls. Elvie (my wife's name) was just starting out learning to use a computer in the internet cafe. She was encouraged by her elder sister to go online and try it out. I was purposely seeking out Filipina's. The name came up ZHYRINE ENRIQUEZ (her made up chat name.) I clicked on it and sent my first message.
Since my teenage years in high school I always had an attraction to Asian girls. I knew someday I would marry one. I had a few dates here and there, even a Korean while I was stationed at Fort Hood Texas in the military. But nothing ever got serious. I even had Filipina pen pals that the military had set up for us when I was in Germany so we could just get letters from someone. We wrote back and forth and they would send pictures in the mail. It would take weeks to get a letter, but it was exciting to me to read these love letters of them dreaming of someday I would come meet them and marry them. They all seemed to be looking for a husband. This was back in 1990. It had me day dreaming that someday I might actually do just that. Turns out I did do that 22 years later.
In 1999 I got married. Unfortunately it was not a Filipina. It was not an Asian. She was American. Out of 13 years with the American I was not happy. I won't get into that, I'm sure many of you who have been married to an American and are now married to a Filipina no what I'm talking about anyway. Despite the misery I kept trying and trying because I didn't want to end up like everybody around me. DIVORCED!! I did get one good thing out of it though, my daughter who is a teenager now.

One day I bought a computer. Soon I learned about video chat and I was amazed that you could really see someone in a video that your talking to. Before I had no interest in it till I tried it out that day and began to talk to people from all over. Then I got one from the Philippines. The spark re-ignited after that. I started having thoughts, but I felt guilty. Not for chatting but for the thoughts that was in my head. How I always wanted to meet and marry an Asian. I stopped the chatting and got my mind back on my married life. But things could never improve or get better with the American no matter what I did. We slept in separate beds in separate rooms and I decided I had enough. I got up the courage to file a divorce.
Everything went rather quickly, the divorce was final in 2 months. A few months after that the house was sold and I got an apartment and a new computer. It was Valentines Day when I met Elvie online. And two months later I flew to the Philippines to meet her in person. I filed a K1 Fiance Visa when I returned State side. It took 162 days to get approved. I went back to the Philippines again for one more visit and accompany her to her Embassy Interview. She arrived in the US on April 28, 2012. Almost 3 1/2 years married now and two babies later whom we named Emmanuel and Caiden. I can now say we are happy. Now I know what a REAL WIFE is. And what a REAL MARRIAGE is.
Thanks for reading. And I can't wait to read all of your stories too.
